Greenpower
Year 10 – Mr Phil Sutton
The school’s F24 Greenpower programme has brought some significant success over the years during the annual race at Anglesey Circuit, and this year’s group will spend their weekly sessions honing the cars parts to ensure peak performance on race day.
This will include considerable time testing the vehicle and learning more about various engineering elements.
Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.
The Greenpower challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
More than 700 teams throughout the UK participated last year at almost 40 regional competitions before a prestigious international final.
The initiative has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years, with more than 10,000 pupils and students taking part from primary school age through to university.
A growing number of international teams participate in the events and the USA, China, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Poland run programmes under the Greenpower licence.
