Rev’d Sissons hosts latest iChapel from Welsh Mountain Zoo
December 4, 2019

Rydal Penrhos’ latest iChapel event came from one of North Wales’ most prominent tourist attractions.

Rev’d Sissons and Network Manager Gareth Robinson produced their half-termly video during the form period on Friday, November 29, which featured the nearby Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay.

The iChapel began with an introduction and hymn, before Rev’d Sissons visited the penguin enclosure to speak about their natural habitat and an interesting story surrounding two animals from the New York Zoo and their offspring, which became the inspiration behind a popular children’s book.

This led Rev’d Sissons to discuss topics such as same sex marriage and how it is being discussed within the Methodist Church at the present time, before moving on to our everyday differences both in and out of school and how embracing them can “help us grow and learn together”.

Rev’d Sissons then concluded the iChapel spoke about how we can live with our difference and how we can be mutually respectful and kind to one another, and also delivered a prayer that was written for the Methodist Church to aid them with their discussions surrounding same sex marriage.

Senior School Head Sally-Ann Harding, said: “This was another very thought-provoking iChapel from Rev’s Sissons, who delivered a very important message to our school community and one that generated a lot of very productive discussion.”
