Pre-School head Louise Roberts brings us an account of a very busy few days at the department in her weekly blog, which saw the youngest members of the Rydal Penrhos community continue their space topic.
This week the children find out more about stars as part of their ongoing topic on space.
The children chose various materials to make pictures of stars, create their very own star wands and shooting star pictures.
Each child was encouraged to search the book area for books about stars and they also listened to stories about stars.
The children made a group story about a new star from discussions that proved to be very informative and fun for all.
For problem solving, the children made collages of stars from various shapes and were asked to name the shapes.
They were also asked to match the correct number of stars they can see.
We made constellation patterns and used the internet to find out information about stars.
It was a very busy week with a wealth of other activities relating to stars, plus small group literacy and numeracy sessions
We also had our usual Forest School session, got active with gymnastics and enjoyed music activities.
A small group will also visited Merton Place Care Home in Colwyn Bay to spend time with the residents, which was another very successful trip.
