Quartet secure Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award
February 6, 2020

Four hard-working pupils at Rydal Penrhos received another significant honour as part of their ongoing efforts with a leading outdoor education programme.

Year 11 trio Aidan Skinner, Cameron Shaw and Josh Peevor, together with Year 12 Sixth Former Harry Grocott, are now proud owners of a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award after coming through their respective assessments with flying colours.

The quartet put in a considerable amount of time and effort alongside their GCSE and A Level studies in order to achieve the feat, which included a gruelling assessment expedition in difficult conditions at the start of the academic year.

Aidan, Cameron Harry and Josh contribute across a multitude of different areas of Rydal Penrhos life in addition to their Duke of Edinburgh exploits, which includes academic success and achievements in Athletics, CCF, Sailing and Music.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme at Rydal Penrhos has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years under the passionate guidance of co-ordinator Dr Jim Lewis, with a host of successful candidates securing Gold.

These include recently departed Head Boy Nick Fiorita, with Mili Jayadeep, Sara Owen, Becky Lawton and Jessica Maudsley all achieving the feat from the class of 2018.

Deputy Head Girl Tallulah Batley was the most recent pupil to achieve the milestone, receiving her badge last month.
