“Just a quick note to say thank you to you and your team for responding so quickly and positively to the feedback about online schooling. We’re all finding it a lot easier this end and the iPads are making the process much more straightforward too… finding the work varied and interesting. Bravo!” – Prep School parent.
Rydal Penrhos has worked hard to ensure that pupils have a clear and structured timetable during the latest online learning due to COVID-19 restrictions implemented by the Welsh Government.
Remote learning plans have been at the forefront of the senior leaderships’ minds during the academic year. It was always a possibility it may recur and we were determined to be prepared.
One initiative which really helped us was the parent and pupil questionnaires that went out following last Spring’s lockdown.
Rydal Penrhos staff listened to the feedback given and this has been an invaluable aid to creating an incredibly diverse and strong timetable for the current lockdown. Although all every teacher and pupil and parent wants is for all pupils to make a safe return to their face-to-face learning.
When we talk Prep School we must not forget all our Pre-School children remain physically in school and all lessons are continuing except Swimming and Coastal School, with the only other real change coming at lunch with packed lunches being brought into school from home.
This continuity has been a welcome boost for the youngest members of the Rydal Penrhos community and their initial development before they embark on their formal education.
Live lessons at Rydal Penrhos Prep School.
Those in Reception and Year 1 are receiving four live lessons per day, in addition to one small group session, with Year 2 up to Year 6 benefitting from six online lessons from the comfort of their own home, together with form time and assemblies.
All classes have 30 minutes of physical activity each day to boost their health and wellbeing, with specialist lessons in music, art, religious education, Welsh and Spanish also continuing for all year groups.
Pupils who were participating in one-to-one music or speech and drama lessons are still able to progress in their fields of interest and Rydal Penrhos Prep School is also hosting keyworker children to assist families associated with the school as they continue to provide an essential service during the fight against COVID-19.
Hopefully, we will be able to welcome back our incredible Prep School pupils very soon, but academic and overall progression won’t stop if they have to stay at home for a little longer thanks to the sterling work of staff.
