Year 6 pupils at Rydal Penrhos Prep School got a taste of things to come during a transition session this week.
The eager group made the short journey down to Rydal Penrhos’ senior site for an activity afternoon at the Design Technology department.
This was part of their familiarisation ahead of moving into Year 7 in September, which also saw pupils and parents attend a virtual Information Evening this week.
Under the expert guidance of teacher Mark Harmsworth and technician James Bonser, the group were tasked with designing and making their very own sweet dispensers.
They worked tremendously well both individually and as a group in a socially distanced manner, which resulted in two fantastic final products.
Sally-Ann Harding, senior school head of Rydal Penrhos, said: “Moving from the prep up to Year 7 can be a daunting proposition for any pupil, and this has not been helped by the current climate.
“These sessions are a great way for them to meet teaching staff, get a feel for the senior school site and learn some new skills in the process.
“Hopefully their time at out Design Technology department proved very useful, and we look forward to welcoming them all for the next stage of their journey following the summer break.”
Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com/prep@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydal.wpengine.com/open-days-visits.
