GCSE Results 2021: Individual highlights

Rydal Penrhos celebrated a wealth of individual achievements after the school’s GCSE results were formally confirmed on Thursday 12 August.

No fewer than 68.7 per cent of Rydal Penrhos GCSE candidates secured A*-A or 9-7 grades, which represents an increase of 6.6% year-on-year and is 38.7% higher than the national average of 30%.

The number of pupils securing pass rates from A*-C or 9-4 was 92.7% – 13.1% higher than the national average of 79.1%.

In addition to this, 51.7% of pupils attained A* grades from their WJEC Welsh Board assessments as a result of their incredible efforts.

This was a thoroughly pleasing set of results from our Year 11 pupils, who put in a significant amount of work in uncertain circumstances over their GCSE studies, which also included two educational lockdowns implemented by the Welsh Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Every single pupil and Rydal Penrhos’ tireless staff team can look back at their respective accomplishments with an enormous sense of pride. The standard of excellence in commitment and professionalism throughout the school community has paid dividends with some impressive success this summer.
