Rydal Penrhos to go ‘Yellow’ in aid of Young Minds
October 6, 2020

Rydal Penrhos school’s Prep and Senior sites will be going ‘yellow’ for their first fundraising event of the academic year.

The school’s Sixth Form Charity Committee, together with separate arrangements at the Prep School, have arranged for Rydal Penrhos pupils to participate in the Hello Yellow Day on Friday 9 October, which is being held to raise money and awareness for Young Minds, which coincides with World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October.

As part of the senior school contribution, pupils will be asked to come in wearing at least one item of yellow clothing for a donation of £2 to support the cause.

There will also be further fundraising activities taking place during form period in their ‘bubbles’ in accordance with social distancing guidelines.

Rydal Penrhos Prep School pupils will also be putting on their finest yellow garments for the occasion, with teaching staff arranging wellbeing activities throughout the week to help children understand the importance of mental and physical health.

Morgan Kendall and Lara Pyves, Heads of the Rydal Penrhos Charity Committee, said: “Many of us have been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis throughout the last six months.

“This crisis has taught us all a lot about the importance of community, friendship and love. People have shown countless acts of kindness throughout this period.

“The Hello Yellow Day will be low key, calm and ‘mellow’ as we believe that we do need to keep things calm in school as we are operating in tight bubbles and under great restrictions and pressure all around.”

Rydal Penrhos has a rich and proud history of fundraising for worthy causes throughout the region and beyond. The school is proud of its community involvement, which was further evident with the extraordinary efforts to help those in need during the first coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

This included a PPE project that created thousands of protective masks for NHS staff and keyworker facilities, opening boarding accommodation for critical keyworkers and holding keyworker childcare not only for Rydal Penrhos parents, but also the wider community.
