Speech and Drama pupils at Rydal Penrhos produced yet another set of incredible results from their LAMDA assessments.
The modern workplace demands successful people to demonstrate confident attitudes and behaviours. These are much sought-after traits in today’s world and something Rydal Penrhos strives to provide every pupil in readiness for their next challenges throughout higher education or the working world.
Not only is this done with a thorough academic curriculum, consistent monitoring and a pupil-centred approach, but the school also builds key skills and confidence within a varied and exciting extra-curricular provision.
One of the more popular initiatives is the Speech and Drama programme, which allows pupils to communicate with and understand others in new and exciting ways, providing training in the very practical aspects of performance and the ability to express themselves in front of others.
Participation in Speech and Drama activities requires self-control and discipline that will serve the pupil well in all aspects of life. Not only this, but they learn to work together, co-operate with one another as well as listening to and accepting the viewpoints and contributions of others.
Pupils also get the opportunity to gain additional qualifications from their London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art assessments throughout their time at Rydal Penrhos. This can lead to a prestigious Gold Award and even valuable UCAS points ahead of securing their first-choice university destinations.
There was plenty to celebrate during their latest round of assessment results, with 37 of the 42 candidates within the Senior School gaining a distinction thanks to their exceptional commitment under the tutelage of Christina Bloomfield.
Four secured merits and the school celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate. The candidates in Grades 6 to 8 gained a useful amount of UCAS points, with more awarded the higher the mark achieved.
Mrs Bloomfield, said: “These results were very encouraging considering we had the famous “big chief” examiner Carol Shroder, who has written all the technical books we use for LAMDA exams and taught many high-end actors we see on our screens. She currently examines in 26 countries and she’s in her 70s!
“Congratulations to everyone involved. I am immensely proud of all the hard work you’ve put in which is reflected in your overall marks.”
