Rydal Penrhos Daily Notes – June 24
Day 66 from Rydal Penrhos school’s keyworker childcare provision – 27 pupils, 29 staff
Look who’s back! Today some of our teaching assistants returned to work and they all seemed very excited to be back.
For the first time in 14 weeks of keyworker care, the number of staff on-site outnumbered the number of pupils!
Indeed the pupils, when they caught fleeting glimpses of these new familiar faces, were a little awe-struck and appeared dumb-founded; if it has seemed a long time to a 40-year-old then it must have seemed an even longer time away for a four-year-old!
The teaching assistants were soon busy preparing the bubble bases for their influx of pupils next week and the rooms were soon sparkling both visibly and audibly (how many different hair shades did you try during lockdown?!).
Listening in to remote lessons this week I can tell that pupils are ready for a change…we won’t be getting back to normal anytime soon but we are slowly approaching a new normal; a tentative, carefully thought through normal.
One step at a time!
