We caught up with Lucy Davies, Head of Rydal Penrhos Prep School, for an update on the three-phase plan for reopening following the coronavirus lockdown.
Rydal Penrhos Prep School is working alongside the Senior school to ensure that the next phases of the reopening go as smoothly, safely and efficiently as possible. We plan to do the following:
Phase 1
Reopen to all year groups on partial weekly timetables from June 29 to July 17. This has been a lengthy process to plan and has involved an extension of our normal summer term by two weeks.
The school has been transformed to meet all Welsh Government guidelines on social distancing and hygiene. We are planning three weeks of highly involving and stimulating lessons which will allow all our pupils to reintegrate in their own time.
Phase 2
During the shortened six-week summer holiday we will be providing holiday provision for our pupils from Pre-School to Year 8.
We will also be carrying out further staff training, completing a deep clean and carrying out an IT hardware overhaul to build on skills learnt by all during the highly successful remote learning.
Phase 3
When the school reopens in September, we plan to allow pupils and staff time to talk and learn in school again.
We will be updating staff training to particularly look out for the wellbeing of the whole school community.
Through hard work and positivity, Rydal Penrhos School community will return from this period of school closure as a reflective and resilient centre of learning.
