Mrs Freeman earns Chartered Teacher of History
January 30, 2023

A popular Rydal Penrhos teacher has been rewarded for her exceptional commitment by becoming a Chartered Teacher of History.

Our teaching staff at Rydal Penrhos are nothing short of incredible from Pre-School to Sixth Form. Their care and dedication go above and beyond the call of duty, which enables those learning at the school to reach and far exceed goals and overall progress.

The school’s outstanding examination results reflect this at both A Level and GCSE. Rydal Penrhos’ increased value-added scores are also a testament to how hard teaching staff and young learners work together to achieve their specific targets.

Mrs Maria Freeman, who is Head of Humanities at the school, recently achieved a prestigious distinction by becoming a Chartered Teacher of History. This represents an outstanding achievement and one the popular teacher worked incredibly hard to attain.

Chartered Teacher of History (CTHist) status is designed to ensure that teachers who choose to remain within the classroom have their contributions and expertise recognised and to provide assurance for senior leaders that history staff are committed to their continued development.

This accreditation confers a distinction on its holder in recognition of a high level of expertise in both historical knowledge and understanding and age-appropriate pedagogy, as well as a commitment to continued development in these areas.

It follows the same rigorous standards as other successful Chartered Teacher schemes.

Mrs Freeman has made a significant impact on Rydal Penrhos since her appointment. Her passion, drive and dedication consistently inspire senior pupils, with her recent GCSE revision podcasts going down extremely well with candidates.

Everyone at Rydal Penrhos would like to congratulate Mrs Freeman on securing Chartered Teacher of History status. We are so proud of you!
