Rydal Penrhos Pre-Prep and Pre-School nativity: ‘A Bundle of Joy’.
There was plenty of excitement in the air for this year’s Rydal Penrhos Pre-School and Pre-Prep Christmas nativity play regardless of the fact it was in a different format this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
As the old saying goes, the show must go on! And Rydal Penrhos Prep School staff deserve an enormous amount of credit for putting the necessary measures in place to ensure that Pre-School and Pre-Prep pupils could still take to the stage and deliver a fantastic performance of ‘A Bundle of Joy’.
This was a nativity production with a twist and centred on Grumbles the Donkey – which was performed with aplomb by Year 2 pupil Hania Ffowcs-Williams.
Grumbles was the animal tasked with bringing Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem for the birth of Baby Jesus, but some well-deserved rest after his journey was constantly being disrupted by expectant visitors coming to see the New Born King.
There were a host of musical numbers from all year groups during the production, with some dance routines thrown in to further enhance the entertainment.
With social gatherings not permitted this year, the play was filmed and put together by IT apprentice Claire Biglands for pupils, staff and families to enjoy on Friday 11 December.
This involved an exceptional amount of dedication from everyone involved. Special thanks must go to all staff, director Catherine Culver and every pupil who worked tirelessly during rehearsals to make the production thoroughly entertaining for those watching online.
Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer private tours to prospective pupils and their families.
