At Rydal Penrhos, one of the aims we have for our Pre-School is to engage parents in their children’s learning journey and celebrate the bond between parents and their little ones.
This seems an especially important goal, particularly in the wake of past Covid-related precautions, during which parents could not be involved in school life as they might normally. As such, the Rydal Penrhos Pre-School goes out of its way to ensure that parents have the opportunity to be regular and active participants in their children’s education.
Twice a month, dedicated Pre-School parent-pupil events take place. The most recent of these was our whole school Sports Day, during which parents both cheered on their children and, at times, raced hand-in-hand with them. However, this is not the only event of its kind we have had this term.
Nature Trail
On Thursday 11 May 2023, Rydal Penrhos Pre-School took part in a nature trail where parents joined their children in discovering the wonders of the natural world. Rydal Penrhos is lucky to be situated in an area of such outstanding natural beauty, which the school aims to take great care of through its excellent groundskeeping team.
Along the nature trail, parents and children identified various features of the natural environment, and even encountered beloved Peter Rabbit characters hidden along the way. It is sure to be a memorable experience for our youngest pupils and will add to the extensive outdoor learning that already takes place in Rydal Penrhos’ Forest and Coastal Schools.
Bikeability Breakfast
The return of the annual Bikeability Breakfast was a much-anticipated occasion. On the morning of Thursday 18 May 2023, parents gathered in the beautiful and historic Lyndon Library, enjoying a delightful breakfast spread, while their children eagerly prepared their bikes. With helmets securely fastened, they were ready to go.
Parents joined their children on a beautiful spring morning to guide them around the playground, aided by the expert supervision and guidance of the school’s staff team. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and laughter as many bikes weaved around pupils and parents alike. This special event enhanced pupils’ confidence and allowed them to develop their cycling skills in a supportive environment.
We are delighted by the success of the recent Nature Trail and Bikeability Breakfast initiatives and look forward to many more Pre-School parent-pupil events in the future. Until next time, Pre-School parents!
