Rydal Penrhos Pre-School pupils recently enjoyed a captivating visit to the Welsh Mountain Zoo, a delightful addition to their regular educational outings.
At Rydal Penrhos, we believe in the immense value of providing experiences beyond the classroom. This philosophy is embedded in our Pre-School curriculum, which includes weekly Forest School or Coastal School sessions and regular visits to Merton Place, a local retirement residence.
On Monday 20 May 2024, a trip to the Welsh Mountain Zoo offered an extraordinary learning opportunity for our young explorers. Immersed in nature, the children encountered a fascinating array of animals, sparking their curiosity and excitement.
This visit was particularly relevant to our child-led curriculum, where ‘mini-beasts’ has been one of our engaging topics this year. While the children have been enthralled by the bugs and insects discovered in their outdoor sessions, the zoo visit expanded their horizons to much larger and diverse creatures, from Eurasian Brown Bears to Ring-Tailed Lemurs.
The children were enthralled by the majestic Sumatran Tigers. It was a joy to see their faces light up with wonder and awe as they observed the broad variety of incredible animals up close. This hands-on experience not only broadened their understanding of wildlife but also nurtured a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated Pre-School practitioners and the Welsh Mountain Zoo for making this memorable trip possible. Their efforts ensure our children receive a rich and varied learning experience, contributing significantly to their development.
As we look forward to more exciting adventures, we are thrilled to remind parents and carers to join us for Sports Day on Friday 24 May 2024, taking place at the school’s historic New Field. Your support and involvement are invaluable, and we cannot wait to share this uniquely special day on the school calendar with you all.
