Looking at our pupils as unique individuals is something that truly sets our Prep site apart. This is enhanced by a designed curriculum full of fun, inquisitiveness and creativity that forms the very core of teaching and learning methods at Rydal Penrhos.
It all starts within our Pre-School department, with qualified staff providing children with learning and early development activities to capture their imagination.
This comes through well-structured play in an indoor and outdoor setting, child-initiated activities under immaculate supervision and a range of focused individual and small group tasks.
Pre-School children are not pressured in the slightest. Instead, they are encouraged to join in activities that are suitable for their age, stage and ability.
Once children make the move up to Reception-Year 2 at Rydal Penrhos (Pre-Prep), attention turns to building very strong foundations in the core literacy and numeracy skills, engaging and exciting children throughout their learning.
A wealth of exciting subjects are introduced from History to STEM and even Computing, giving our pupils vital early skills that will stand them in good stead during their journey through Rydal Penrhos.
During Years 3 to 6, the school offers a broad and rich learning experience delivered through a dynamic, thematic curriculum.
English, Science and Maths form the core of the overall learning experience, with areas such as Art and Design, Music, Drama and Computing also implemented to ignite curiosity and improve creativity. It also enables the Prep site to combine the best primary practice with an extremely varied extra-curricular provision, which includes outdoor education within the outstanding Forest School area.
All this is bolstered further with the school’s free iPad initiative, which allows them to become more technologically advanced and provides assistance to learning both within the classroom and at home.
This provision under the exceptional guidance of Deputy Principal Mrs Lucy Davies equips pupils at Rydal Penrhos with the skills they need for wherever their life and learning takes them.
