Rydal Penrhos pupils make special video for incoming Y7
July 8, 2020

A group of pupils at Rydal Penrhos have given the next generation some helpful insights into what life is like at senior school.

As part of a virtual introduction regarding what to expect in September, four Year 12 pupils and two from the current Year 7 gave detailed accounts of their time at Rydal Penrhos, their experiences and some useful tips to make the most out of the vast academic and extra-curricular opportunities available.

Anna Parry-Williams, Cerys Cuddihy, Kevin Farrell and Morgan Kendall were the Sixth Formers tasked with leading the way in terms of providing initial expectations and support.

Keira Luke and Kenan Buckley, who have made the smoothest of transitions to senior school life this year, also spoke about how they found their first few months at Rydal Penrhos senior, which was significantly impacted by the coronavirus lockdown.

This video has been made available to the incoming Year 7 ahead of a virtual Information Evening this week, where pupils and family members will get the chance to speak to key staff.

There will also be a series of transition events taking place in a socially distanced manner in the coming weeks that will enable the group to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.

Sally-Ann Harding, senior school head of Rydal Penrhos, said: “We are always keen to do whatever we can to make things less daunting for those making the big step up to Year 7, and hearing accounts from our current pupils is a brilliant way to get a first-hand account of what to expect.

“Hopefully this will help them enormously during this unprecedented time, and I would like to thank each pupil that assisted with this project.”

Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydal.wpengine.com/open-days-visits.
