Rydal Penrhos Welcomes Incoming Year 7 Class for Moving Up Day
June 29, 2023

On Wednesday, Rydal Penrhos said hello to its latest class of Senior pupils as our September intake spent the day getting to know their new school environment.

On the morning of Wednesday 28 June 2023, Rydal Penrhos welcomed its incoming Year 7 class for the upcoming academic year. Moving Up Day introduced our current Year 6 pupils to their next chapter of education but also warmly welcomed new pupils from various other primary schools. With the sun shining brightly, the atmosphere was brimming with excitement and anticipation.

At precisely 9am, the new Year 7 class arrived at Senior Reception, where they were met by a team of key teachers and staff who will play an integral role in their secondary education journey. Among the welcoming committee were Ms Sarah Bollan, our Pastoral Lead for Years 7 to 10, and Mrs McClean, our Admissions and Marketing Manager.

Throughout the bustling day on our Senior site, pupils were immersed in a multitude of lessons and inductions designed to acclimate them to their new academic environment. One highlight of the day was the Chemistry experiment led by Mr Pender, one of our excellent Science teachers.

As the day drew to a close, parents gathered in the Hovey Room, to meet with staff and engage in conversations about life in the Senior year groups. Building strong and robust channels of communications with parents is a key objective for our Senior teaching team and the aim of this meet-and-greet session was to do just that.

At Rydal Penrhos, we are committed to providing excellent pastoral care, and a key part of this is supporting pupils’ transition to the Senior year groups. Moving Up Day is just one of a series of measures designed to aid this effort over the coming weeks and months. Very soon, parents and pupils will be issued Welcome Packs, featuring all the information they will need for September.

We can’t wait for you to join us, Year 7!
