Year 1 and 2 pupils at Rydal Penrhos had great fun enhancing their learning as part of a recent trip to the seaside in Llandudno.
At Rydal Penrhos, we believe in providing our pupils with enriching educational experiences beyond the classroom. As part of their History topic – ‘Seasides in the Past’ – Year 1 and 2 embarked on a memorable trip to the picturesque town of Llandudno on Monday 19 June 2023.
The pupils arrived at Llandudno filled with excitement, ready to immerse themselves in the seaside atmosphere. They gathered at the charming bandstand, joyfully singing the tune ‘We Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside’ to the delight of passersby.
During their visit, the young historians observed Llandudno’s present-day landscape and compared it to interesting photos from the Victorian era. This exercise allowed them to appreciate the changes that have occurred over time, connecting the town’s rich history to its present.
In a delightful surprise, Mr and Mrs Williams, proud parents of Harris in Year 2 and owners of the town’s beloved pier, treated our pupils to a turn on the iconic big wheel. The pupils marvelled at the breathtaking views of the sparkling sea and coastline, creating lasting memories.
Of course, a trip to the seaside wouldn’t be complete without ice cream! Mr and Mrs Williams treated each child to a scrumptious 99 ice cream, adding a touch of sweetness to their day.
As their day out reached its conclusion, the pupils gathered to watch a traditional Punch and Judy show. Laughter filled the air as Mr Punch and his lively companions entertained the young audience, leaving them with joyful memories.
At Rydal Penrhos, we believe in creating engaging experiences that ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning. The Year 1 trip to Llandudno blended historical exploration with fun, allowing our pupils to appreciate the past, enjoy the present, and create cherished memories together.
We would like to thank our staff, Mr and Mrs Williams for their kind hospitality and look forward to many more exciting adventures, particularly with our end-of-year activity week approaching.
