Ski hopefuls coached by familiar face on recent holiday
February 4, 2020

Three Preparatory School pupils improved their skiing skills thanks to a familiar face on a recent holiday.

Year 1 duo Margot Gilmartin and Jack Brookes-Fazakerley, together with Year 3 pupil Beatrice Brookes-Fazakerley, took a family trip to Val d’Isere in France.

They were shocked to see the presence of 2019 leaver Zac Blomeley, who is working at the resort’s New Generation Ski School for the season during his gap year before university.

The trio were full of excitement upon seeing Zac, who spoke glowingly about his time at Rydal Penrhos and offered some thoughts on his best experiences at the school.

He was also on hand to provide some expert insight into improving their skiing during a special course that they successfully completed, receiving a booklet and certificate acknowledging their achievements to conclude their stay.

Zac was a prominent figure of Rydal Penrhos’ RYA Accredited Sailing and Water Sports Centre, securing Welsh and Team GB youth squad selections alongside partner Ewan Luke.

Assistant head Catherine Hughes, said: “This is a really heart-warming story and is further evidence of what a close-knit community the Rydal Penrhos family really is.

“Margot, Jack and Beatrice were so excited to see Zac and hear all about his time at the school and his plans for the future.”
