At the time of writing, some of our wonderful visiting music teachers (VMT’s) are giving a demonstration of instruments from their chosen specialist area at the Prep School.
We have a range of instrumental lessons available, including violin, cello, guitar, ukulele, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, flute, recorder, harp and drum kit, as well as piano, keyboard and organ.
There are options for 20 and 40-minute lessons. If you require further details, please don’t hesitate to contact me at PWilliams@rydalpenrhos.com.
I highly recommend encouraging your child to take up a musical instrument. There are benefits abounding!
On October 4th, we have a concert taking place in the Memorial Hall. This features the superb Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Girls’ choir, and our very own Schola Cantorum; 20 of our senior school pupils with exceptional singing and music reading abilities.
The concert also features wonderful soprano Beth Hartless and the exquisite voice of our very own Tegid Goodman-Jones.
We are incredibly proud to be hosting this event, and hope to have a packed house in support, so I hope to see as many parents as possible at the event.
The concert starts at 7pm and finishes at 8.15pm. Tickets cost £5 each and are available by contacting Sarah James. SJames@rydalpenrhos.com.
The following week on October 9th, we have another Young Performers Senior Concert taking place at the Memorial Hall.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a wealth of talented students from Years 7-13, and this concert will be showcasing just some of their abilities.
As always, it will feature a wide range of styles, communicated with trademark professionalism by our pupils. The concert starts at 6.30pm and should be finished by 7.45pm.
Finally, the charity ball, being held in the Sixth Form Ferguson Centre on October 11th.
This event, is being held in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust and Ataxia UK. It is a black tie event, with a three-course meal being presented by Holroyd Howe.
Mike Pender and I are providing vocal entertainment for the evening, and with audience participation intrinsic to the proceedings, it promises to be a fun night.
We really do appreciate your support both in the music department and as a whole school, and whilst it is realised that the dates of these events are fairly-close together, we are extremely grateful that you are willing to give your precious time in supporting our pupils.
