RPS Sports Programme seminar schedule for autumn term announced
November 7, 2019

A series of seminars have been announced to coincide with the new RPS Sports Programme at Rydal Penrhos.

They will begin on November 12 with an official launch, where teaching and coaching staff will discuss what it means to be a sports scholar at Rydal Penrhos and look in-depth at target setting for the weeks and months ahead.

This will be followed by a special talk on “what makes a successful athlete” on November 19, and former Head of Hockey Phil Mather will return to the school on November 27 for a discussion on all things relating to injury prevention.

December’s seminars begin with a focus on the importance of conditioning training to overall performance, before the extremely important discussion of “effective time management – sport versus study” will take centre stage on December 10.

The final seminar of the autumn term will centre on the understanding of training sessions, before looking at working on their programmes during the busy festive break.

Head of Physical Education Nicky Head, said: “Physical training is an extremely important part of overall development, but it is also essential for our aspiring athletes to gain as much knowledge as possible theoretically in order to get the most out of their RPS Sports Programme experience.

“We are fortunate to have an incredible teaching and coaching staff team at Rydal Penrhos, who will strive to ensure that each pupils’ needs are met and they have all the tools necessary to achieve success.”

Anyone wishing to join the RPS Sports Programme can do so by contacting Mrs Head via email at NJHead@rydalpenrhos.com.
