Continuing our Meet the Staff feature ahead of Open Afternoon on Friday, October 4 (2.30-5.30pm), we now focus on Prep School Assistant Head Catherine Hughes.

The popular figure joined the school community joined the Rydal Penrhos community in 2017 and held the post of Acting Assistant Head for the 2018-19 academic year as the Prep School determined its longer-term leadership structure.

Miss Hughes has made a considerable impact during this time and was appointed to the role on a permanent basis, and she brings a wealth of experience both in teaching and leadership roles.

She has taught in a variety of schools in the North West, including a very large four-form entry primary school, and Catherine has also been a SENCo, Coordinator in a number of curriculum areas, and a Key Stage One Leader.

At three of her previous schools, Miss Hughes has been involved as a key member of staff in supporting and leading with improvement journeys, and her efforts to develop various areas of academic life at Rydal Penrhos greatly boosting the school’s provision.

She has provided current Prep School Head Lucy Davies with a considerable amount of support during the initial stages of her leadership, and has played a leading role in special projects such as the Enterprise Group.
