Mrs Roberts’ Pre-School blog: March 13
March 13, 2020

Pre-School head Louise Roberts brings us an account of a very busy few days at the department in her weekly blog, which saw the youngest members of the Rydal Penrhos community continue their Safari topic.

Animal Patterns

This week we discussed animal patterns.

The children recreated animal patterns using varying techniques and resources.

They also looked at animal patterns and matched the correct pattern to the animal during a safari hunt.

The children had the opportunity to taste a selection of fruit from the story Handa’s Surprise, and used their problem-solving skills to create dens outside.

They sorted sorting safari animals into sets.  Following on from a discussion about African homes, the children enjoyed pretend play in the safari African home and created a cooking fire from wood we collected from the forest.

Some children will visit Merton Place on Monday to spend time with residents, participating in various activities that continues to be a mutually beneficial agreement between all parties.

The children also spent considerable time working on literacy and numeracy focused tasks in small groups.

As usual, the children got active during gymnastics and in our fantastic Forest School, in addition to their weekly music session.
