Pre-School children at Rydal Penrhos brought joy to residents of Merton Place during a recent visit.
Rydal Penrhos is proud of its standing within the Colwyn Bay and Conwy county communities. This is something that’s formed the fabric of the school’s success since its inception almost 150 years ago and remains a core part of our ethos to this day.
Many community initiatives take place across all departments throughout the academic year. The school also raises a significant amount through various fundraising events for worthy causes across the region and beyond which amount to thousands annually.
This starts from an early age, with Pre-School children also participating in such activities. One popular scheme run by department staff is frequent visits to Merton Place Residential Home in Colwyn Bay, which is just a short distance from the Prep School site and situated across the road from Rydal Penrhos’ senior reception.
Pre-Schoolers descended on Merton Place for another fun-filled visit recently, which brought joy to residents and staff alike thanks to their enthusiastic approach and exemplary behaviour.
During their latest stay, children spent time colouring with residents, making towers with bricks and singing old-school nursery rhymes which went down extremely well.
Not only does this promote a strong community relationship, but it also enhances the social development of Pre-School children during the initial stages of their development. It also allows each child to interact in unfamiliar surroundings, which is proven to build self-esteem and confidence along the way.
More events are planned between Rydal Penrhos and Merton Place over the festive period and beyond. We would like to thank the staff at the facility for another warm welcome and the school is already looking forward to our next visit.
