A talented young sailor has been acknowledged for another incredible campaign on the water with a high-profile national squad selection.
Liam Farrell, a Year 8 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, has been called-up to the UK Feva National Junior Squad for the 2019/20 season, which represents a significant achievement for the Llandudno Sailing Club member.
He achieved this feat alongside new sailing partner Felix and came as a result of a standout performance in two Grand Prix selection events in early September.
They followed this up with another exceptional display full of consistency during a special event at Hayling Island that further enhanced their prospects on selection to the squad.
Liam and Felix will now attend six coaching sessions with the set-up over the winter months to build their skills during the off-season with some of the best coaches anywhere in the country.
This will ensure both will hit the ground running when the competitive campaign gets underway once again, and this is the latest in a series of outstanding achievements from a sailing perspective from the pupil, who is thriving across all areas of Rydal Penrhos life.
Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “Liam seems to turn his hand to everything that he tries both academically and from an extra-curricular perspective, and he has shown particular talent in sailing for a prolonged period of time.
“This has brought with it some truly exceptional achievements and to be selected for such a coveted squad at national level is a further testament to his ability, willingness to commit to improvement and the adaptability he has within a competitive environment.”
