Rydal Penrhos: Freya wins annual Y7 Bake-Off
July 14, 2020

Eager young pupils at Rydal Penrhos took to the kitchen for an annual Food Studies competition.

The Year 7 contingent got creative during their Rydal Penrhos Bake-Off competition last week, which was held in a socially distanced manner under the supervision of teaching staff.

Each aspiring baker managed to put their organisational skills to the test in a competitive setting impressively well, and this resulted in some outstanding cakes and other tasty desserts.

The staff were given the unenviable task of judging the exceptional standard of entries, and department head Laura Gardener announced that Freya Berklay emerged victorious from this year’s cooking showcase.

Her towering fruit gateaux tasted as good as it looked and proved to be a worthy winner despite some other quality creations from all pupils involved.

Ms Gardener, said: “Our Year 7 did an incredible job with their Bake-Off competition entries, and I was thoroughly impressed with the standard and in particular, the attention to detail from each pupil on their respective designs.

“It was extremely hard to pick an overall winner from the competition, but the level of difficulty in Freya’s idea was something that really stood out.

“Congratulations not only to her on winning the event, but to everyone that took part.”

Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com, prep@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydal.wpengine.com/open-days-visits.
