The Rydal Penrhos Community Choir is seeking new members to continue its exceptional work over recent years.
One of the biggest positives throughout Rydal Penrhos is the strong community ethos throughout the school. This is evident on a daily basis around campus and is also prevalent in various projects and initiatives implemented by our exceptional staff team.
Although COVID-19 restrictions put some on hold in recent years, everything is now thankfully back to normal and the Rydal Penrhos Community Choir is inviting new members ahead of a busy few months for the group.
The much-loved Community Choir was set up in 2013 to bring together the voices of our parents, former pupils, staff, and friends. It rehearses weekly and plans are being formed to organise concerts throughout the year to raise money for local and national causes.
To date, the choir have raised almost £10,000 for worthy causes in the region and beyond.
Mr Alan McGuinness is a music teacher at the school who leads the Community Choir. He has plenty of experience with choirs from his time working at St Asaph Cathedral, where he was given the task of promoting, establishing and directing a new Cathedral Girls’ Choir.
In January 2004, at the age of 28, he was appointed as Organist and Master of the Choristers. Mr McGuinness directed the Cathedral Choirs in both live and recorded broadcasts for national radio and television, and was organist for two broadcasts of Songs of Praise.
Mr McGuinness has given many organ recitals at home and completed a concert tour of New York City and New England in the United States of America.
The Community Choir is now seeking members and anyone wishing to register their interest can do so by emailing Mr McGuinness at AMcGuinness@rydalpenrhos.com.
