Skiing Success: Rydal Penrhos Pupils Victorious at National Snowsport Association Contest
February 5, 2024

Rydal Penrhos pupils once again illustrated their skiing skills at a recent competition, bringing home an impressive haul of silverware.

Rydal Penrhos showcased its standard of excellence in sports at the recent National Schools Snowsports Association competition held at Llandudno Snowsports Centre on Friday 2 February 2024. The competition underscored the remarkable progress our pupils have made, reflecting the dedication and passion they bring to their training.

Coming at the end of a week of sporting triumph, the competition saw our pupils clinch numerous accolades across various age categories. Among the notable achievements were:

In the U8 girls’ category, Rosanna Jones of Year 1 secured the Gold medal, while Erin Pollard and Naomi Rogers, also Year 1 pupils, claimed the Silver and Bronze respectively.

In the U10 girls’ division, Ellie Jones (Year 3) seized the Silver medal, closely followed by Evangeline Ratcliffe (Year 3) who earned the Bronze.

The U10 boys’ category saw Jack Brookes-Fazakerley (Year 5) clinch the Gold medal, with James Richards (Year 3) proudly taking home the Bronze.

In the U12 category, Harry Bennell (Year 6) emerged triumphant with the Gold medal, while Henry Savage (Year 5) showcased his talent by securing the Bronze.

Additionally, Senior pupils Ethan Pollard and Freddie Griffin also received well-deserved medals, further highlighting the depth of talent within our school community.

These remarkable achievements underscore Rydal Penrhos’ commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for young skiers to thrive and excel. Through our weekly training sessions at Llandudno Snowsport Centre, we endeavour to provide our pupils every opportunity to practice and develop their skills on the slopes.

This practice takes on particular relevance when our pupils travel overseas on residential ski trips; something that has occurred regularly across the history of the school. Currently, Rydal Penrhos is preparing for an exhilarating overseas skiing trip to Sestriere, Italy in the spring of 2025.

By this latest evidence, our pupils will certainly have the skills to master its unique skiing challenge when the time arrives!
