Preparatory School pupils held a special assembly to lend their support to a global reading initiative.
The Rydal Penrhos Prep School Council spoke in front of staff and pupils on Wednesday, March 4 about the significance of World Book Day on Thursday 5.
They were joined on stage by Prep School head Lucy Davies, who also addressed those in attendance regarding the popular scheme.
During the assembly, each pupil spoke about the importance of reading for their imagination and overall development, and also highlighted the 100 new books that have been placed in the Prep School library in recent weeks.
There was also plenty of excitement regarding the new outdoor reading area, which is a place that pupils can read outside away from the playground during break and lunch time.
This new area is currently being designed by the School Council and will be formally opened in the coming weeks.
World Book Day is held in March each year and is a registered charity with the mission to give every child and young person a book of their own.
The initiative is now in its 23rd year and was set-up to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books.
It is the biggest event of its kind globally, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in more than 100 countries all over the world.
