Rydal Penrhos Year 1 pupil Maximus Galeotti recently participated in the ‘Conwy Dark Run’ to support local charity Ty Gobaith, also known as Hope House.
Rydal Penrhos School seeks to inspire important values in its children and young people. Indeed, more than any GCSE or A-Level certificate, it is the principles and guiding beliefs that our pupils take with them into later life that are the most important products of their time at school.
As a registered charity, Rydal Penrhos sees selflessness, benevolence, and philanthropy as some of the most important traits to nurture in its pupils. Across the school year, Rydal Penrhos pupils get involved in a wide range of charitable causes, from supporting our partner charity, Sense, to raising funds for communities in Peru through Edukid.
Today, we are thrilled to share an incredible achievement by one of our pupils, Maximus Galeotti, who, in achieving a personal triumph, has also supported a vital local cause.
On Saturday 28 October, Maximus participated in the ‘Conwy Dark Run’, a 5km race beginning at the RSPB Conwy and seeing many glow-stick adorned runners making their way towards Conwy supported by music and cheering spectators.
Completing the race in an impressive 35 minutes, Maximus did himself proud, especially when considering that it was his first race, and he had never run such a distance before. Prior to the race, Maximus had been swimming, and he had spent three hours exploring the local zoo. Despite this busy day, he was committed to running the entire course.
Maximus’ effort was not just a personal triumph. The Year 1 pupil raised an incredible £210 for Ty Gobaith, a local children’s hospice that cares for young people up to the age of 25. These funds form part of the £6500 the event has already raised and will go a long way to support a cause to which Rydal Penrhos have been long-time supporters. Those wishing to support Maximus’ efforts can still do so by clicking this link.
Maximus will be bringing his well-deserved medal to school to share with his peers, and we look forward to celebrating his accomplishments with him. His achievement is a shining example of what can be accomplished with dedication and a positive attitude.
Well done, Maximus!
