A Rydal Penrhos Pre-School Practitioner has been nominated for the Caring in Welsh Award 2023, highlighting the development of Welsh language provision at the school.
At Rydal Penrhos, we take great pride in our exceptional educators who go above and beyond to create a nurturing learning environment. One outstanding example of this is Nikki Taylor, one of our Pre-School Practitioners, who has been nominated for the Caring in Welsh Award 2023.
The Caring in Welsh Award is an annual recognition that celebrates individuals who have made a significant difference in people’s lives by providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.
At Rydal Penrhos, we have been actively promoting the Welsh language and culture, placing them at the heart of our school community. Initiatives like mandatory Welsh lessons for pupils aged 14 and younger and celebrating important cultural events like St David’s Day have helped foster a strong Welsh identity within the school.
Nikki’s journey is particularly inspiring, as she did not have a Welsh-speaking background. However, her unwavering dedication to learning and developing her skills in the language has been truly remarkable. She actively practices Welsh with the children, instilling confidence and enthusiasm for the language among them. Furthermore, her positive influence has extended to her colleagues, encouraging them to embrace Welsh, and creating an increasingly inclusive environment for Welsh-speaking and bilingual families in the Pre-School.
Mrs Davies, our Deputy Principal and Head of Prep and Pre-School, praised Nikki’s enthusiasm and love of learning Welsh, saying: “it’s a pleasure to nominate someone who has had such a positive impact on the lives of others. Da iawn Nikki!”
As the voting deadline approaches, we invite you to join us in celebrating Nikki’s outstanding contributions and Rydal Penrhos’ steadfast commitment to Welsh language and culture. Please show your support by casting your vote for Nikki before the poll closes at 5 pm on July 31, 2023.
