Rugby league giants St Helens put together a special video package detailing their three-day pre-season training camp held at Rydal Penrhos.

The first-class sporting facilities available at Rydal Penrhos were recently used by three-time defending Super League champions St Helens, who geared up for another title defence with a special three-day training camp at the school prior to the Christmas period.

This was a tremendous honour for the school and a testament to how highly regarded our facilities are when it comes to sport, with Cricket Wales, Glamorgan Cricket Club and other high-profile clubs and organisations from across the country also choosing Rydal Penrhos for games, coaching courses and other events.

It proved to be a memorable few days for all involved. The school’s staff went above and beyond to ensure an exceptional stay for the Saints, which also included a lavish Christmas dinner on the evening prior to their departure.

The first-team squad were put through their paces in the school’s recently refurbished Fitness Suite, 25-metre swimming pool and also held a session on Rydal Penrhos’ incredible New Field area which pupils and parents were permitted to attend under strict COVID-19 guidelines.

St Helens thanked Rydal Penrhos for their outstanding hospitality during a special presentation of the school’s new first-team kit to members of the squad. Executive Principal John Waszek, who is a Saints’ season ticket holder, received a signed shirt as a token of gratitude that will take pride of place within the school grounds.

No trip to Rydal Penrhos would be complete without taking in the picturesque coastline, with the Saints squad holding a session on Colwyn Bay beach and cooled off by taking a dip in the sea!
