Academic success is at the heart of any great education. Rydal Penrhos is no exception.
Our school has a longstanding commitment to academic excellence, something continually demonstrated by our GCSE and A-Level exam results.
However, what sets Rydal Penrhos apart is our determination to improve every child, regardless whether a pupil is naturally the strongest in their class, or needs that extra guidance and inspiration to thrive.
Our school does not select pupils academically. We improve them academically.
With small class sizes of fewer than 20 pupils and a better-than 10:1 pupil-teacher ratio, every child benefits from focused attention and personalised support.
Our experienced educators, passionate in delivering their specialist subject knowledge, carefully guide pupils through the journey from Year 7 to GCSE.
Learning takes place in state-of-the-art facilities designed for innovation and creativity, ensuring pupils achieve their full potential in every subject.
What makes a Rydal Penrhos pupil? Here is one way to define it: that they are safe, happy and thriving.
Pupil happiness, safety and well-being comes first. That is why we deliver a personal and robust pastoral care system, which ensures every child feels valued, supported, and secure.
Our dedicated pastoral team works closely with pupils, families and other specialists to nurture emotional well-being and personal development.
With a thriving house system and close ties between year groups thanks to our extensive Peer Mentoring programme, Rydal Penrhos is a truly supportive community.
In everything we do, we aspire to our school ethos: “Do All The Good You Can…”
At Rydal Penrhos, we want every school day to challenge and inspire in equal measure.
From morning registration at 08:30 to the end of clubs at 16:30, a day at Rydal Penrhos is carefully structured to inspire focus, collaboration, engagement and progression.
Beyond six daily lessons, we offer a rich extracurricular programme that includes over 70 clubs, competitive sports, drama productions, music ensembles, Combined Cadet Force, and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Rydal Penrhos pupils are encouraged to pursue their passions and explore new interests, creating memories that last a lifetime, while developing valuable skills and friendships.
At Rydal Penrhos, education extends beyond academics.
We foster resilience, curiosity, and a love for lifelong learning, equipping our pupils with skills to thrive in an ever-changing world.
It is not easy growing up in the modern 21st century world. Thankfully, our holistic approach ensures every pupil becomes a well-rounded individual ready to excel on their own individual path.
Whether building confidence through public speaking, developing teamwork on the sports field, or honing leadership skills in clubs and activities, Rydal Penrhos prepares young minds for success in later life, whether that is in North Wales or beyond.
