As one of the leading independent schools in the North West, richness, through breadth of experience and depth of study, is our goal.
At Rydal Penrhos School you will find a broad and balanced learning programme which caters for a wide range of abilities and interests. We care for the individual and are able to tailor the curriculum to suit diverse needs.
Our curriculum also allows for increasing choice and specialisation as pupils move through the school.
Year 8 can choose to be part of the school’s Combined Cadet Force instead of Outdoor Ed. This becomes extra-curricular from Years 9 to 11.

We offer over 21 hours of extra academic support per week to our pupils in the form of lunchtime and evening subject clinics, designed to support and prepare them for success in their examinations.
Examples include catch-up clinics for English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as clinics for Business Studies, Art and DT, Religious Studies, Modern Foreign Languages and Economics.
Academic life at Rydal Penrhos extends far beyond the classroom with our extensive enrichment programme.
From Year 7 onwards all pupils can choose from a carousel of subjects and activities.
Every pupil at Rydal Penrhos is assigned a tutor who is responsible for their academic and pastoral welfare.
Regular reviews and individual interviews, together with an internal monitoring system, ensure that concerns raised are both communicated and addressed quickly and effectively.
All pupils are awarded grades which are discussed with tutors who will give praise and encouragement or suggest strategies for improvement, as appropriate.
Depending on your child’s year group there are three or four formal reporting points in the year. There is a Parents’ evening for each year group at least once a year and, additionally a ‘Meet the Tutor Evening’ early in the first term of each year. Each pupil receives a mixture of full and short reports, and grade cards.
