Cricket: Rydal Penrhos Season Ends in Style with Tour Success
July 17, 2025

Rydal Penrhos wrapped up a memorable cricket season with a fantastic Senior tour; full of strong performances, great teamwork and lasting memories.

Sport plays a pivotal role in life at Rydal Penrhos. It helps shape confident, resilient young people who know how to work together and rise to a challenge. Our recent Senior cricket tour, hosted by Ratcliffe College in Leicester, was a great example of this ethos in action. It gave pupils the chance to develop both on and off the pitch, building skills, friendships and shared values along the way.

Taking on Bolton School, Wirral Grammar and hosts Ratcliffe College, the team showed real commitment, sportsmanship and technical ability. The Player of the Tour was Year 13’s Ethan, who took an impressive seven wickets across the three games. Young Player of the Tour went to Year 10’s Harry, who batted brilliantly throughout and showed huge potential for the seasons ahead.

The tour also marked a meaningful moment for four of our Year 13 leavers – Ethan, Matthew, Liam and James – as they took part in their final cricket tour with Rydal Penrhos. All four have made a huge contribution to school cricket over the years; from inter-school fixtures to our annual MCC contest. A special mention goes to James, who captained the side with leadership and class, taking part in his fifth Senior tour.

As always, this tour was about more than just the matches themselves. It was about the shared journey, the laughs, the lessons and the team spirit; everything that makes school sport such an important part of life at Rydal Penrhos.
