FAQs: Rydal Penrhos School Open Day 2025
September 20, 2025

Considering a visit to North Wales’ leading independent school? Here is everything you need to know about our flagship admissions event.

Open Day 2025 takes place on Saturday 4 October and we are delighted to invite prospective families to see the school in action. This is a chance to discover what makes Rydal Penrhos unique, to meet our staff and pupils, and to explore the breadth of opportunities available from Pre-School through to Sixth Form.

What will I see and do on Open Day?
Open Day provides an immersive introduction to life at Rydal Penrhos. Families will tour our campus, exploring the blend of historic buildings and modern facilities, while children can join a programme of interactive activities that reflect the variety of our curriculum. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet teaching staff, speak with pupils, and experience first-hand the “strong sense of community” at our school, as Estyn put it.

Will the Principal be there to meet visitors?
Yes. The Principal will extend a warm welcome to all guests, outlining the school’s ethos and ambitions for the future. His address will highlight how our values of academic excellence, pastoral care, and broad opportunity shape the experience of every child.

Do I need to register in advance?
Yes. Advance booking helps us prepare for all visitors. Registration can be completed quickly online or via the Admissions team.

Where should I go when I arrive?
All visitors are asked to arrive via the Pwllycrochan Avenue entrance, opposite Merton Place. From there, please make your way to the Osborn Hall where staff and prefects will be on hand to greet you.

What is the timetable for the day?
Refreshments will be served from 10.00am, followed by a welcome from the Principal at 10.30am. After the address, guided tours and pupil activities will begin at approximately 10.50am. The morning will conclude in the Dining Room around 12.00pm.

Will children take part in activities?
Yes. Activities are an important part of the day, allowing children to experience Rydal Penrhos for themselves. These are carefully designed to reflect the breadth of our provision, from creative arts and problem-solving to sport and performance.

Is lunch provided?
Yes. Families will enjoy a freshly prepared lunch in our Dining Room, giving a flavour of the high-quality catering available to pupils each day, delivered by our partners Holroyd Howe.

Will I see the new Astro Turf?
This year’s Open Day is the first since the official unveiling of our new state-of-the-art Astro Turf. Visitors will have the chance to view the facility, which represents a major investment in sport at Rydal Penrhos and provides outstanding opportunities for hockey and other outdoor disciplines. It has already become a focal point for both school and community use, and we are proud to showcase it to prospective families.

What if I cannot attend the Open Day?
If Saturday 4 October is not convenient, the Admissions team will happily arrange a private visit. One-to-one tours provide the same opportunity to explore our facilities, meet staff and gain a sense of the school at a time that works best for you.

What happens after Open Day?
Following your visit, the Admissions team will guide you through the next steps of the admissions process, including registration and acceptance.
