We are fortunate to be situated one of the most picturesque areas anywhere in the United Kingdom, and North Wales offers a plethora of opportunities to boost learning outside of the classroom that a variety of departments throughout Rydal Penrhos utilise to great effect.

Both Prep and Senior School sites have a wealth of exciting Outdoor Education programmes that have been implemented with a view to aiding each child and young person’s development and to provide them with new experiences and skills that stand them in good stead for later life.

The Pre-School department recently implemented a Coastal School programme that has been hugely successful during its inception, igniting curiosity and enhancing overall development during a series of visits to the Colwyn Bay coastline throughout the academic year.

Prep School pupils participate in Forest School sessions throughout their time with us, which boost learning, improve communication, teamwork and problem-solving at the impressive Coed y Plant site under the guidance and support of programme leader Jude Pyves.

This is further boosted with a large number of educational trips during the year, which sees each year group visit prominent landmarks throughout the region regularly to boost their classroom topics.

This is a trend that continues in the Senior School, with excursions, the thriving Duke of Edinburgh scheme and the new Combined Cadet Force initiative among the activities provided as part of a well-rounded and exceptional education at Rydal Penrhos.
