Meet the Pupil Leadership Team: Toby, Rydal Penrhos Head of School
April 28, 2026

As part of our introduction to the new Senior Pupil Leadership Team, Rydal Penrhos is pleased to profile Year 12 pupil Toby, one of our Heads of School for 2026-27.

Toby first joined Rydal Penrhos in 2017. Across his time here, he has become a familiar and highly valued member of the school community, known for his determination, warmth and willingness to contribute fully to school life.

His appointment reflects not only his personal achievements, but also the example he sets to others. Toby has worked hard to maintain high standards in his academic studies, showing discipline and perseverance.

Toby has also made a significant contribution beyond the classroom. A highly committed sportsman, he has achieved international success in karate, representing Wales on the international stage, finishing fourth in both the 2024 European and World Karate Championships in Romania, where he was one of only nine individuals chosen to represent his country. Alongside karate, Toby has also taken part in dance at a national performance level, as well as cycling, swimming, gym work and running club. His sporting experience extends into leadership and coaching, having worked as an instructor with children and young people across a wide age range.

His presence on stage has been equally notable. Toby starred as Peter Pan in the school’s recent production and has taken leading roles in several previous shows, including Mr Bumble in Oliver!. Through these performances, he has delighted audiences, showing confidence, creativity, teamwork and the ability to inspire those around him.

Within school, Toby has contributed through peer mentoring, supporting Prep events, helping with lower school play rehearsals, and taking part in a range of House competitions, including singing, cricket and rounders. Toby is currently working towards his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, an achievement that reflects his independence, resilience and commitment to personal development.

As Head of School, Toby hopes to be an approachable, kind and reliable member of the pupil leadership team. He is particularly committed to helping pupils feel that their voices are heard and to strengthening the connection between the pupil body and the senior pupil leadership team.

Reflecting on the role, Toby said that he would be proud to represent Rydal Penrhos and would work hard to contribute positively to the school community while upholding its values.

We warmly congratulate Toby on his appointment as Head of School. His energy, good nature and generous contribution to Rydal Penrhos make him an outstanding choice for this important role, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in the year ahead.
