A former Rydal Penrhos pupil is lending her support to the school’s PPE project by selling a limited number of copies of a special drawing.

Elysia Gilman, who left Rydal Penrhos in 2018, is now studying Art at the University of Loughborough and produced a special drawing of Colonel Sir Tom Moore to recognise his exceptional fundraising efforts for the National Health Service during the coronavirus pandemic.

She is now selling some A5 prints of the incredible drawing, with proceeds going towards Rydal Penrhos’ design technology department and their production of protective masks for NHS staff and keyworker facilities across the region.

Just 40 prints are available, and the cost is £20 plus postage and packing. Elysia is also signing them individually.

This is the latest in a series of worthwhile charity initiative from Rydal Penrhos pupils past and present during the lockdown. They have been making PPE and taking part in various fundraising initiatives from the comfort of their own home.

Sally-Ann Harding, senior school head, said: “Elysia is such a talented artist and this is an incredible gesture from here during a difficult time.

“Our DT department and pupil Jamie Lavery have created thousands of protective masks so far, and we are thrilled that Elysia has chosen to show her support by giving proceeds from these incredible prints to the project.

“This is further testament to the sort of traits we look to install into every pupil here at Rydal Penrhos.”
