Following a landmark year of transformation and delivery, anticipation is building for Rydal Penrhos’ annual Open Day on 4 October 2025.
In the 140-year history of Rydal Penrhos, few chapters have matched the scale and significance of 2024–25.
The academic year opened with the full relocation of the Pre-School and Prep School to the main campus; an ambitious single-siting project involving the most substantial investment in facilities and equipment in a generation.
The success of this unification was soon affirmed in February, when Estyn published an outstanding inspection report praising the school for its “strong sense of community”, “positive and trusting relationships”, and “exceptional learning environments”.
A year like no other then ended with the completion of a competition-grade astro-turf pitch, cementing Rydal Penrhos as a sporting leader in North Wales and the North West for decades to come.
It is against this backdrop of purposeful progress that Rydal Penrhos has launched the countdown to its Whole School Open Day on Saturday 4 October 2025; an event expected to attract wide interest, particularly following last year’s record attendance.
Open Day is designed for families considering entry into Pre-School, Prep School, Senior School or Sixth Form. Guests will be welcomed by Principal Mr Tom Hutchinson before joining guided tours of the school’s academic and extracurricular facilities.
Alongside visits to our state-of-the-art Science, Food and Design Technology labs, classrooms, and Art and Music studios, this year’s event will also offer families their first opportunity to see our brand-new, competition-grade sports pitch up close—a landmark addition to the Rydal Penrhos campus.
Alongside the tours, prospective pupils will be invited to take part in a programme of engaging hands-on activities. Ranging from maths and science to sports and art, each activity will offer an unparalleled insight into daily life at Rydal Penrhos.
“What families tell us again and again is, ‘we knew it from the moment we stepped through the front gate’” said Mrs Maria McLean, Admissions and Marketing Manager. “That’s what Open Day is about— seeing it, feeling it, knowing it’s right. As a school, we’re proud of the journey we’re on, and we look forward to sharing it with families.”
