Rydal Penrhos prepares to invite schools from near and far to a fast-paced afternoon of rugby sevens that promises competition, community and excitement.
Rugby has long been a cornerstone of life at Rydal Penrhos, where sporting tradition sits proudly alongside ambition, camaraderie and character development.
Each season brings opportunities not only for our players to test themselves, but for the wider school community to come together in support of shared values and school pride.
On Wednesday 18 March 2026, these values will be on full display as Rydal Penrhos hosts its U16s Rugby Sevens Tournament on the New Field, sponsored by 75 Point 3.
Open to schools from across the region, the tournament is free to enter and continues to grow as a respected and well-supported fixture in the schools’ rugby calendar.
Spectators from within our community are warmly encouraged to attend and enjoy an afternoon of high-quality, fast-moving rugby in a vibrant, social atmosphere.
Designed with development firmly in mind, the tournament offers an ideal competitive platform for schools preparing for the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens.
Teams can expect a friendly yet challenging environment, excellent facilities and the chance for players to express themselves in the open, skilful format that makes sevens rugby so compelling.
As Mr Kirby, Head of Sport, said:
“We look forward to welcoming schools, both new and old, back to New Field for an afternoon of Rugby Sevens. This event provides an excellent opportunity for schools and players preparing for Rosslyn Park to compete in a friendly yet competitive environment. Our annual tournament has been a positive and successful fixture for many years, and one we are excited to continue growing and developing.”
With on-site accommodation available subject to availability, the tournament is particularly well suited to visiting schools travelling from further afield.
Schools interested in taking part are invited to contact RKirby@rydalpenrhos.com for entry details, while pupils, parents and friends of the school are encouraged to come along, support the teams and enjoy an exciting showcase of youth rugby.
