Speech and Drama: Rydal Penrhos Pupils Excel in 2025 LAMDA Examinations
August 13, 2025

Speech and Drama pupils at Rydal Penrhos produced yet another incredible set of results in their latest LAMDA assessments, continuing a proud tradition of performance excellence, personal growth, and articulate self-expression.

The benefits of Speech and Drama at Rydal Penrhos reach far beyond the stage. These lessons develop skills and values that last a lifetime — from public speaking and presentation to empathy, resilience and leadership.

Within our nurturing and creative environment, pupils are encouraged to explore complex emotions, embody characters, and speak with confidence and clarity. They learn the art of storytelling, build self-assurance in front of an audience, and cultivate the poise needed for life’s many formal and informal performances. Such skills serve them equally well in the classroom, on the university admissions circuit, and in future professional arenas.

This summer’s LAMDA results reflect both the breadth and depth of this enrichment. An outstanding 86% of pupils earned Distinction, with the remainder achieving strong Merits — with no ‘just pass’ grades across any level. Six pupils undertook the prestigious Grade 8 Gold Medal qualification, with five securing Distinction and 30 UCAS points. One standout was Finlay, soon entering Year 13, whose two powerful speeches earned a remarkable 91 marks. With two Gold Medals completed, Finlay now holds 60 UCAS points from LAMDA alone.

These achievements not only spotlight individual excellence but also speak to the sustained quality of instruction and guidance provided by our expert staff. From the earliest stages through to Gold standard, our pupils continue to perform with assurance, imagination and integrity.

We hope to be celebrating more fantastic results in the coming days, with the countdown to the release of our latest A-Level and GCSE results nearly over!
