Rydal Penrhos Gallery: Y7 & 8 Andy Goldsworthy project
July 15, 2020

Two Rydal Penrhos year groups put their creativity to good use during another art project surrounding the outdoors.

The Year 7 and 8 contingents were tasked with creating a piece of artwork using entirely natural materials found around the beautiful landscape of North Wales by Suzy Morris, an Art teacher at Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior sites.

This latest project drew inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy OBE, a British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist who produces site-specific sculptures and land art situated in natural and urban settings.

Each pupil took on the task with their customary enthusiasm and creativity, which resulted in some exceptional final pieces that were then photographed from their location and sent to Mrs Morris.

The teacher was enormously impressed with the standard of work, which is the latest in a series of thought-provoking, topical projects devised by Mrs Morris during this unprecedented time.

She said: “I am constantly amazed by what our pupils manage to come up with during these projects, which was evident throughout the entirety of their online learning.

“They all deserve a tremendous amount of credit, and I wish them all a safe and happy summer break.”

Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com, prep@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydal.wpengine.com/open-days-visits.
