A Sixth Former at Rydal Penrhos continued his excellent run of recent results ahead of a landmark fundraising event.
Morgan Kendall, a Year 12 pupil at the school, took his place in the field at the rearranged Nick Beer Memorial 10k Race in Llandudno on Saturday, March 7.
The teenager produced another incredible run in the face of older and more experienced opposition, and Morgan clocked a time of 37 minutes and 36 seconds to finish in eighth position overall out of 436 runners.
This also enabled the runner to finish first in his age category to extend his positive run of form in a competitive environment.
He managed to scoop a first-place overall finish at a Conwy Parkrun and also secured qualification to the Welsh Schools’ Cross-Country Championships after a strong performance in the Eryri qualifier.
Morgan is busy training ahead of his first-ever half marathon in Milton Keynes on May 3, which coincides with his 17th birthday.
The keen runner is already working hard on his fitness levels after setting himself an initial target time of one hour, 35 minutes for his debut run.
A post on Morgan’s JustGiving page, read: “Running has been one of my biggest passions for a few years now and I always like to have a goal, whether it be a new PB or a milestone.
“On May 3, I turn 17 and it marks just over five years since my dad, Stuart Kendall, was diagnosed with cancer.
“As a result, I would like to run the Milton Keynes Half Marathon not only for him, not only for personal goals and ambitions but also for people who have or will have cancer in their lifetimes.”
