Reception class pupils at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to make their own creative items on an exciting trip to Piggery Pottery.
Getting out and exploring the wonderful things North Wales has to offer is a key part of Rydal Penrhos’ comprehensive and outstanding education. The school considers itself extremely fortunate to be situated in a beautiful part of the world, steeped in stunning landscapes and historical significance that proves highly beneficial in the development of pupils from Pre-School to Sixth Form.
Whether it’s developing key skills in an outdoor setting, testing limits on excursions or building character and friendships during residential trips, Rydal Penrhos’ outstanding staff are constantly looking for ways to use the school’s location to the advantage of each pupil under our care.
There was a great deal of excitement in the air within an enthusiastic Reception class just before the half-term break, who took a trip through the Snowdonia Mountains en route to Piggery Pottery, which is situated in Llanberis and arranged as part of their termly topic surrounding materials.
Piggery Pottery is a small, family-run business that hand-crafts an enormous range of beautiful pottery pieces, which pupils painted how they wished using their vivid imaginations to create designs they can treasure forever.
There were a host of activities to take part in throughout the day, including painting their own pot, pebble painting, canvas painting, mask painting and slate painting.
Each pupil received praise for their attitude and behaviour during the trip and got to take their creations home.
Trips like this are important for our young pupils, as it helps them get creative outside the classroom in a relaxed and friendly environment, which also boosts confidence in unfamiliar surroundings.
Our Reception classes thoroughly enjoyed the trip and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is very grateful to the staff at Piggery Pottery for making us feel so welcome.
