Drama Club announce A Midsummer Night’s Dream production
February 25, 2020

Aspiring performing artists are being invited to audition for a high-profile summer production at Rydal Penrhos.

The Drama Club will be portraying William Shakespeare’s classic tale ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in June, and those wishing to become part of the cast can audition at the Rick Maple Studio on Tuesday, February 25 and March 3 from 3.40pm.

This is available for Year 7-10 pupils and once all roles have been cast, they will take part in a serious of rehearsals to hone their skills ahead of the big performance.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in 1595/96. It portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta (the former queen of the Amazons).

There include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.

The play is one of Shakespeare’s most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.

Drama teacher Fiona Earle, who will be heading the production, said: “We have a tremendous amount of pupils that have a superb ability to perform on stage, and this is going to ensure our version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is going to something not to be missed.”
