In September 2024, the Rydal Penrhos Prep School will relocate to Old House.
Over recent years, one of the key strategic aims for Rydal Penrhos has been to unite our school onto one site and provide a state-of-the-art home for our Prep pupils and staff.
In an exciting milestone, Principal Mr Tom Hutchinson today announced that, following careful consideration and extensive discussions with the Governing Board, the Rydal Penrhos Prep School will relocate to Old House.
The move will not only successfully realise our one school vision, but will also benefit all our pupils and staff, ensuring the continued flourishing of Rydal Penrhos and its pupils for many years to come.
Following the relocation, Prep pupils will benefit from the school’s existing specialist teachers and high-quality facilities, such as the Osborn Hall, Sports Hall and Science labs. Crucially, this also includes our current Forest School within Pwllycrochan Woods, which the school will retain following the relocation.
Rydal Penrhos is proud of its rich heritage and historic listed buildings, and welcomes this opportunity to significantly invest in upgrading and maintaining the school site. Old House’s Carnegie Room and Watkinson Library will be transformed into a new Prep Hall and whole-school library, respectively.
Importantly, the benefits of the Prep moving to Old House will be felt by pupils of all ages, not just Prep children. The Senior Mathematics & Computer Science and Humanities faculties will enjoy brand new dedicated classrooms in Hunt House, where the existing food labs and computer suite will also see extensive refurbishment.
With the Prep moving into its new home for the first day of the new academic year in September, there has never been a more exciting time to be part of our thriving school community.
