Weekend Activities group brave weather on Snowdon summit walk
October 16, 2019

A group of intrepid staff and pupils braved the weather to tackle one of their most picturesque areas anywhere in the country.

The contingent travelled to the nearby Snowdonia National Park for a special summit walk, which was arranged as part of the thriving Weekend Activities programme at the school.

Led by Andy Thomas and Dr Luke Adamson, the pupils remained undeterred despite the heavy rain and wind to reach their required goal, although cloud restricted their view once they made the summit.

Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “Despite weather not being in the group’s favour, they all showed a tremendous amount of grit and determination to get the very most out of the experience, and they all deserve an enormous amount of credit for the way they applied themselves.

“Another standout feature of the walk was the way each pupil motivated each other during difficult stages of the summit walk, and this is something that we highly encourage across all year groups here at Rydal Penrhos.”

November’s activities begin with a House Play rehearsal on November 10, and there will be an opportunity to pick up some Christmas presents during a visit to the impressive Liverpool One Shopping Centre on November 17.

There will be plenty to enjoy for those attending the Tag Active trip on November 24, which is situated at the outstanding new SC2 Facility.

Another eye-catching activity on the schedule is a Paintballing trip on December 1, and the Weekend Activities’ autumn term programme concludes with the popular annual trip to the Manchester Christmas Markets and a visit to the Chill Factore.
