Excellent GCSE results for PE department

Rydal Penrhos’ Physical Education department had plenty to celebrate as GCSE results were announced this week.

The Year 11 group were rewarded for their exceptional application to their studies as results were published nationwide on Thursday, August 22, with the candidates securing 100% 9-7 grades, which is the equivalent to A*-A level.

Leading the way was Sydney Johnson, who achieved a nine grade as a result of her superb efforts throughout the GCSE module, with Zach Speakman, Team GB sailing squad member Josh Manning and Cerys Cuddihy scoring eight marks in accordance with the new grading system.

Rounding off the achievements were Dylan Craddock, Ava Gardener and Jasper Richardson, who all attained a seven grade.

Each pupil worked considerably hard under the expert guidance and leadership of staff within the thriving department at Rydal Penrhos, which has achieved a considerable amount throughout the school’s proud history of examination success.

Head of Physical Education Nicky Head, said: “This was an outstanding set of GCSE results from our young pupils, who all demonstrated a strong work ethic and willingness to learn throughout the two-year course.

“This was matched by the passionate teaching of our wonderful staff team, who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that they reached their overall goals.

“Our academic prowess is evident not only with impressive examination results each summer, but also with the personal development of each pupil under our care across all departments.”
